Re the article ''Sidelined residents fears' (March 6) and the letter by D. Skinner in the same edition.
I attended a Geroges River Council workshop at which council stated percentages in regards to population increases as .09 per cent, reaching 185,000 residents by 2036.
They also stated there would be a 30 per cent increase in jobs. Added to this was a capacity to build 12,134 houses and on "space where they can be built". The added comment by GRC: "zoning plans have the ability to change" and GRC would lobby the state government "if we have to".
One aim of the council workshop was medium density housing. GRC, and I quote, "are looking at a true medium density definition".
Hurstville, Hurstville Centre and Kogarah were the top three for high density. Guess which suburb was No. 4? Yes, Penshurst.
So to the residents of McRaes Estate, and your concerns for overdevelopment. I suggest that you Google, "Migration and the 2030 Agenda", an IOM UN Migration Policy.
Everyone please brief yourselves on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) and see exactly what your politicians have signed, as per these UN doctrines.
I am looking forward to reading which street in McRaes Estate to get the first boarding house development application.
Maree Miller, Penshurst
So politicians were beating their chests at McCraes Estate say planning codes need to be returned to the councils. So what has stopped these same politicians from putting a private members bill to state parliament to change the codes? After all state parliament has had the say on more Agenda 2030 pack ’n’ stack DA’s since council amalgamations. That was after the last election. They bank on our short memories.
