It was a successful return to their spiritual home for the men's Cronulla Sharks water polo team on Saturday when they toppled the Balmain Tigers 12-10 in a tight game at Cronulla's Gunnamatta Bay.
It wasn't such a good homecoming for the women Sharks in the OVO Australian Water Polo League when they went down fighting 16-10 after letting the Tigers get away from them in the third quarter.
Gunnamatta Bay was the club's home from the mid 1960s until the early 90s and the entire club's training programs and games were played at the Gunnamatta Bay Baths, affectionately known to club stalwarts as "the home of water polo."
On Sunday, the men once again showed some fight winning another close game against Sydney University at their home pool 12-11, a result that couldn't have got any closer and got the Sharks off the bottom of the competition ladder.
The women Sharks went down again with a closer 10-8 loss against the Students which left them with a 13-3 win loss record going into their round eight games at Sutherland Pool on April 7.
