I'd like to offer a few suggestions to change or improve car laws, rules and regulations in Australia to make driving a much better place for everyone.
Firstly, a suggestion for people getting a licence, it should be compulsory to learn how to drive manual.
Driving a manual keeps drivers more focused as they are using three pedals instead of two and they also need to time when to shift gears, when to use the clutch, and what gear to put the car in. It also minimises the time for people to play on their phone while driving.
Secondly, the drink driving limit should be lowered or fines be made more harsh. Australians should NOT be driving when they have been drinking alcohol. People that have done nothing wrong are being injured or killed by drunk drivers (this should also be considered for drug testing).
Being a car enthusiast myself, it's hard driving around with your friends and worrying about the highway patrol pulling your car over because it is too low, too loud, or stands out from all the other ordinary cars.
People use their cars to go out with their friends and go for a drive to meet up get some food and cruise the streets and have fun in their modified cars.
However, when police are doing breath testing on the side of the road, they tend to not only just breath test you but inspect your car and give it defects for being too loud or too low. You are then forced to go home and change your car's exhaust or suspension depending on what the officer has given you the defect on.
I think that the modified car rules and regulations should be eased significantly.
