Sutherland Shire Symphony Orchestra's 2019 concert season will open on Sunday, March 31, when it presents a range of dazzling works in Love and Laughter, a program that will make the spirits soar.
Under the baton of the orchestra's principal conductor and musical director, Dr Anthony Clarke, Love and Laughter will cover the emotional spectrum.
The concert will showcase the extraordinary talents of highly-acclaimed tenor soloist, Matthew Reardon, who will feature on the great tenor arias made famous by Luciano Pavarotti, including Puccini's Nessun Dorma, and other arias by Donizetti, Verdi, Bizet and more.
Dr Clarke said that the performance promises to be a wonderful concert catering to music lovers of all ages.
"This is a really eclectic program, with pieces ranging from Haydn's Toy Symphony, to Strauss' Egyptian March and Brahms' Hungarian Dances," Dr Clarke said.
"Our wonderful orchestra will make you laugh, make you cry but most of all will make you fall in love with all the truly great repertoire featured.
''I'm sure that our audience will leave this concert mesmerised, with a tear in their eye and a big smile on their face.
''It will continue to demonstrate that the SSSO is fast becoming the musical jewel in the shire's cultural crown."
In keeping with the orchestra's desire to maintain audience involvement, all audience members will be given a special treat at the door.
"This treat will be used in the concert for a very special surprise which is guaranteed to make you laugh and to bring the audience closer to the joys of making music," Dr Clarke said with an air of mystery.
Love and Laughter will be performed at Sutherland Entertainment Centre (SEC).
Tickets cost $25 for adults or $20 for concessions (a child under 12 is admitted free with every paying adult).
The concert at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre, 30 Eton Street, Sutherland, starts at 2.30pm, with a free pre-concert talk at 2pm.
