Illawarra Suburbs Lawn Tennis Association member Betty Carlson, 90, was recently honoured as its oldest registered player.
Carlingford resident Betty was presented with a trophy by the association's Rae Middleton which acknowledged her achievement as a long-time member. Betty joined the association in 1973.
She plays at Syvania Tennis Club twice a week, social on Friday and competition tennis on Tuesday, and is still hitting winners.
She has been captain of the Tuesday comp for 20 years.
Betty has many outside interests and visits the Australian Open each year with friends.
She celebrated her 90th birthday on February 17 with family and friends including her grand-daughter and great-grand-daughter who travelled from Thailand for the event.
