A band which brings out the best from the world of gypsy music will perform at Tradies Gymea on Thursday, April 11.
Sancha and the Blue Gypsies fuse Doris Day and Django Reinhardt in their refreshing take on traditional folk, bluegrass, jazz, gospel tunes.
The creative four-some are a joyous collaboration of some of Sydney's most respected musicians witth a lifetime of performance experience between them.
The line up features Sancha Prowse (vocals, mandolin), Marcus Holden (violin, mandolin, guitar, vocals), Garry Steel (accordion) and Stan Valacos (double bass, guitar).
Sancha and the Blue Gypsies have been winning over audiences far and wide with their energetic and engaging stage presence and banter.
This sweet swinging outfit bring the best of the gypsy music world, unforgettable toe-tapping tunes, with the best of the folk world, sing-a-long, heart-felt classics, together in one show.
Their music is inspired by the famous Belgian guitarist, Django Reinhardt, from the 1930s.
Reinhardt was a Belgian-born Romani-French jazz guitarist and composer, regarded as one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. He was the first jazz talent to emerge from Europe and remains the most significant inspiring jazz lovers throughout the world to this day.
