After many community organisation meetings, it is becoming clear Georges River Council staff and consultants are out of step with residents wishes regarding proposed higher densities within our council area.
There is no doubt Planning NSW is pushing our local area for more and more density. But is the general manager and her staff giving clear information to the community.
Densities are for 20 years. Does council know the prophetic dwelling numbers? Can they advise how many residences will be erected under the Kogarah Bay plan approved by the previous Kogarah Council?
How many dwellings will be built in the rest of the old Kogarah Council area including the approved and built Australian Tax Office site.
What of the areas along the Illawarah line at Penshurst and Mortdale?
And then we have the Peakhurst Park precinct pushed through before the last state election.
Until Georges River Council addresses these simple questions they should stop the frog and kettle game seeking ratepayer views on rezoning for high rise (read 20 storeys) in suburbia.
Time for all the negotiations behind closed doors at the council chambers are brought into the light of day.
