Re RMS improvements to King Georges Road, Beverly Hills to Blakehurst.
The recent response I received from Mark Coure (Oatley MP) and Melinda Pavey (Minister for Roads) clearly showed a lack of respect for residents of the area.
The response talks about safety and easing congestion on a major road, by introducing a median strip along King Georges Road.
But when a local resident suggests an improvement so that many residents are not inconvenienced (ie install a right hand turning lane southbound at the Forest Road and King Georges Road intersection) the response from the Minister is however ''the road widening needed to complete this cannot be accommodated within the current road reserve''.
So after all the right hand turning opportunities from Stoney Creek Road to Connells Point Road have been taken away from the residents of Penshurst, Peakhurst, Peakhurst Heights, Mortdale, Oatley, Lugarno, Hurstville Grove, are we to add additional travel just to return to our homes?
Obviously the Minister has not seen all the available land along the western portion of King Georges Road alongside the Hurstville Aquatic Centre - which currently has a right hand turning lane into this aquatic centre.
Or are they protecting that business/entity instead of directing that traffic into the aquatic centre via its Cambridge Street car park entrance ?
Simple solution previously offered, was that the right turning lane would not only allow south travelling motorists to turn right into Forest Road, but also continue to turn right into the Hurstville Aquatic Centre.
