Priority Plus Plumbing from Kirrawee has taken out the Trade Services category at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards night held on April 6.
The directors of Priority Plus Plumbing, Peter Honey and Con Papadimitriou, received an award statuette and certificate in front of more than 1,100 guests attending the awards at The Star Sydney.
The pair are old TAFE buddies who gained their licences in 1996 and set off in two separate paths, running two companies.
Yet neither were totally satisfied with the level of service they were able to offer customers.
The two companies merged to become Priority Plus Plumbing with the goal of achieving the best level of customer service possible.
Last year they took out the Service Trade category at the 2018 Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards and have now backed that up with a gong from the Australian
Small Business Champion Awards - the only national recognition program for Australian small businesses.
Peter Honey says it was quite an honour to receive the Australian champion award on top of their local business award in 2018
''It's a massive moment for any company,'' Mr Honey said.
''It takes passion and determination to run a business plus having the right systems and people in place''We couldn't even nominate the business with out the team we have.
''Support from our families, team, clients and suppliers is a formula for success - its like the four legs on a table.''
Steve Loe, managing director of Precedent Productions and founder of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards said the program aims to encourage high standards of excellence in small business practice across the nation.
''The awards are a way to recognise the efforts of small business people whose efforts contribute to the prosperity and vitality of communities across Australia'' he said.
