Wolli Creek assault investigation continues, CCTV images released

Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to in relation to an attempted robbery and assault of a 68-year-old man in Wolli Creek last month.

About 4.10pm on Wednesday, March 6, the older man left Wolli Creek Railway Station walking towards the shopping precinct on Discovery Point Place.

As he continued walking he was hit from behind and fell to the ground. A man started kicking and punching him while trying to steal his bag.

A bystander came to the injured man's aid and the offender fled the scene.

The injured man suffered cuts and bruising and was treated by a paramedic at Wolli Creek train station where he reported the incident.

Officers from St George Police Area Command have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 193cm tall, with a thin build and dark hair. At the time he was wearing light coloured pants and top.
