Rockdale City have put a turbulent week behind them, scoring a vital 2-1 win over Sydney Olympic on Sunday.
The Suns welcomed Olympic to the Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday in desperate need of victory with Rockdale second last on the table after the club's shock sacking of coach Paul Reid last week.
Rockdale's youth technical director Nick Porreca stepped into the role as interim head coach and enjoyed an immediate reversal of fortune, as Olympic lost Hagi Gligor and star striker Alex Sanchez to injury in the first half.
It got even better for the Suns when Nikola Kuleski was sent off for the visitors just before half-time.
Rockdale looked as though they would fail to take the opportunity as Dimi Petratos gave Olympic the lead four minutes into the second half.
But the Suns would hit back through a Khanh Hoon Cho finish on 65 minutes and were given the chance to win the game when Olympic defender Mitchell Stamatellis was adjudged to have fouled Alec Urosevski in the penalty area seven minutes from full-time.
Patrick Savor stepped up to fire his penalty past Paul Henderson to secure the three points for Rockdale.
"Hopefully we can kick on from here," Porreca said.
"It was a lot of pressure from the whole club.
"It was a good win on Wednesday night in the FFA Cup and today. So I think now we can kick on from here."
Rockdale will look to make it two wins in a row when they host Sydney FC at Ilinden on Sunday.
