Book lovers and bargain hunters from across Sydney are expected to descend on Sutherland Library next weekend.
Sutherland Shire Libraries are conducting their annual sale of books at the central library from May 17-19.
The book sale features adult fiction and non-fiction, children's books, young adult novels, and a huge range of DVDs.
"Everyone is invited along to give new life to quality content including popular cook books, best-selling crime reads, blockbuster movies, travel guides, TV series, memoirs and more," said mayor Carmelo Pesce.
"Funds raised by the book sale are mostly used for furniture and equipment to brighten and refresh the libraries' public areas."
Cr Pesce said today's libraries were community spaces where people can read and study, use technology, attend an event or workshop, or just sit and chat".
Cash and eftpos payments will be accepted at the sale.
The hours are: Friday, 9am to 8.30pm, Saturday, 9am to 3.30pm and Sunday, 11am to 4.30pm
