Hurstville Oval has again been recognised as Sydney's best cricket ground for the 2018/2019 NSW Premium Grade cricket season.
Georges River Council mayor Kevin Greene said this accolade is a significant honour for the community and recognises the hard work and dedication of staff who maintain this outstanding cricket oval.
"This year, I have been informed that the winning margin is one of the largest in the 35 year history of the awards," Councillor Greene said.
"Council's ground staff are committed to delivering the best playing surface possible, and this recognition further highlights their excellence.
"I congratulate Head Groundsman Phillip Rainis and his team for their impressive work and going above and beyond to ensure the surface is in optimum condition," Cr Greene said.
"I'm also pleased that Olds Park finished fourth in the lower grade category, which is an outstanding achievement given it is only in its second year of use."
Councillor Greene also commended ground staff for the quality of the pitch surface at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium as media commentators have rightly praised the surface for the Asian Champions League, National Rugby League and A-League Fixtures.
"The team work incredibly hard to get the pitch in top condition and highlights the high quality of our Premium Facilities in Georges River," he said.
"I encourage everyone to come along to one of our sporting venues and be part of
the action of enjoying world class sporting events right here on our doorstep".
