RE the article "Plan for council precinct: Proposal for 300 units in new civic heart of Hurstville" (Leader, April 10).
And the new council chambers plan has been around for at least 15 years with a very moldy document showing a 10 storey glass building in the middle of a grass parkland and a new small council chambers and admin block at Park Road, Queens Street and MacMahon Street.
The building would be above an underground carpark of, from memory, four levels. This was to resolve all Hurstville parking problems, we were told.
This glass building would include a new Library with Museum and Gallery.
The present proposal has no community support as council has lost the real public consultation art.
The council has zoned Hurstville CBD for multi-storey buildings to protect the suburbs from high rise.
