Update

Woolworths has received approval to extend opening hours at its Cronulla Metro store.

The new hours will be 6am to 10pm Mondays to Saturdays and 7am to 10pm on Sundays, with no change in delivery service hours.

At present, the store opens from 7am to 9pm, Mondays to Saturdays and 8am to 9pm on Sundays.

Sutherland Shire Council received only one formal submission on the development application, stating, "Ridiculous. Surf lane is already chaotic and noisy and getting worse with restaurant deliveries, deliveroos etc and parking stop offs for shops. How are people supposed to sleep when trucks are making deliveries so early?"

Woolworths said there would be no change to delivery hours.

Woolworths has applied to extend opening hours at its Cronulla Metro store.

At present, the store opens from 7am to 9pm, Mondays to Saturdays and 8am to 9pm on Sundays.

Proposed new hours are 6am to 10pm Mondays to Saturdays and 7am to 10pm on Sundays, with no change in delivery service hours.

The application to Sutherland Shire Council said the change was "minor in both extent and potential impacts".

"The ongoing patronage of the store will strengthen the viability and appeal of the existing Cronulla Street commercial centre through increased economic activity, employment workforce and convenient access to grocery and supermarket produce for shoppers," the company said.

"The activity associated with the marginally longer hours of operation will promote a safer, pedestrian friendly commercial centre..."
