Sutherland Shire Council and 3Bridges Community have organised a free training event for non-profit organisations to learn more about fundraising.
The training, aimed at chief executives and fundraising managers will cover how the fundraising sector works in Australia, including the scope and scale of the charity sector, motivating factors of donor generosity and charitable giving, fundraising channels, trends and methodologies, grants, direct mail, major gifts, events, bequests and community fundraising, how to ask clients for support, including developing a case for support, donor acquisition and development, donor lifecycle and developing relationships to realise potential.
More than 600,000 non-profits contribute to the Australian economy.
Sutherland Mayor Carmelo Pesce says the training will help many organisations continue to fund services that make a significant difference.
"In order to provide diverse and responsive community services, organisations need to look beyond government funding and towards leveraging all donors for long-term sustainability," he said.
"This training will help not-for-profit organisations look at all potential fundraising income streams and piece them together to form their own comprehensive fundraising plan."
The event is from 9.30am-3pm on May 22 at Club on East, 7 East Parade Sutherland.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
