Georges River Council has completed the Olds Park amenities upgrade, made possible with Council funding of $45,000 through the Mortdale Ward Councillors' Discretionary Fund, and nominated by Councillor Con Hindi.
Councillor Hindi said this is a great project that has significant community benefits for sporting clubs that utilise the park, including St George Little Athletics Centre and the Penshurst West Soccer Club.
"Investing in our parks is vital in order to make sure they continue to deliver what our community needs," Cr Hindi said.
"This project gives back to our community members by providing updated facilities for sporting organisations to use, including a new canteen.
"The refurbishment works included a roof extension to create a large open-air undercover area, new lighting, a fully refurbished canteen consisting of new stainless steel benches, tiles, hot water system, fridge and roller shutters.
"The building has also been painted, along with replacement of eaves and guttering to complete the fresh new look," Cr Hindi said.
"Olds Park is one of Council's most popular parks for sports and this upgrade will improve the park for the long-term, and I'm very proud of what has been achieved here."
