Nuby Australia recalls silicone dummies that are a choking risk

A popular babies' dummy brand that was sold at Chemist Warehouse has been recalled because it is a choking hazard.

The Nuby silicone ortho pacifier two pack for 0-12 month old infants has been deemed unsafe for use.

It does not comply with the mandatory requirements of the Australian Standard and the Shield Dimension.

Of particular concern is the size of the shield which has the capacity to block the airways of a young child. It can become lodged in the throat and potentially cause a blockage in the air passage.

Nuby Australia urges consumers to return the dummy if purchased.

"The safety of our customers and their families is our highest priority," the company posted on its Facebook page.

"This item was available for purchase between September 2018 and May 2019 inclusive. We recommend you stop using the item immediately and contact us as soon as possible."
