Within the safe confines of classroom walls, there is security and comfort beyond what is experienced by many of the world's refugees.
To encourage students to understand the challenges faced by those escaping their countries, The Jannali High School used art to get their visual message across.
The school marked World Refugee Day this month (June 20) with the unveiling of a mural.
They also played games with primary school pupils and organised food stalls to raise money for charities that support the plight of refugees.
It was all part of challenge-based learning linked to the year 10 geography syllabus on human well-being.
The annual day commemorates the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees.
This year, World Refugee Day also marked a key moment for the public to show support for families forced to flee.
It also celebrated the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society. The ultimate aim of the celebration is to create better understanding between different communities and to encourage successful integration enabling refugees to live in safety and to continue making a valuable contribution to Australia.
