Georges River Council wanted more than two speakers and 10 public attendees at each council meeting, according to its Operational Plan for 2018-19, adopted in June last year.
Yep, that's right. Increased interaction at council meetings!
Then fast-forward to March this year and Council proposes to stop the public from speaking altogether at council meetings.
Yep, that's right. Decreased interaction at council meetings!
And just in case we didn't get the message, increased interaction at council meetings is no longer a measure of Council's success in its draft Operational Plan currently on public exhibition.
So what has the public done to deserve this?
Whatever, just don't let the Labor-controlled Council fool you by saying that they are being forced to by the Liberal state government, because they are not.
Over to you, councillors. Do you want to hear from your residents and ratepayers at Council meetings, or not?
