Robert Humphries of Loftus will be among the patients who will benefit from Dry July this year - an annual cancer fundraiser.
Dry July is a fundraiser that encourages people to go alcohol-free in July to raise funds for people affected by cancer.
Last year, donations topped $7.7 million to support patients in the community through support programs and services.
In 1998, Mr Humphries was diagnosed with throat cancer and had surgery that year.
Since then he has used a feeding tube attached to his stomach via a pump that he carries in his backpack. In 2018, the cancer returned.
Funds raised also go towards supporting on-site group programs including art therapy, meditation and mindfulness, yoga therapy and healthy lifestyle programs to assist patients with their physical and mental well-being.
This year, people who sign up for Dry July and fundraise for St Vincent's Hospital will enable haematology patients to access free wellness therapies during their stay.
