Scarves, shawls, throws and quilts are just some of the cosy items which will be available at the Maianbar Winter Warmers Festival on Sunday, June 23.
The festival will be held in the Maianbar community hall with doors opening at 10am. Entry is free.
All are welcome to browse and buy - there will be fluffy toys, hats, beanies, mittens, slippers and socks, cuddly cushions and the trademark quirky tea cosies and pincushions, all hand-crafted in the village.
The Maianbar festival is now in its 11th year, and has so far has raised $39,600 for various homeless charities.
This year it is raising funds for 'One Meal Sutherland', a group of volunteers who provide the homeless and destitute with one generous meal a week, and also provide clothing and support to those less fortunate than ourselves.
One Meal volunteers make a dish from home such as pasta, rice, meat, soup or muffins, which is served with coffee, tea, bottled water and a breakfast pack of milk, cereal and a muesli bar.
Their aim is to reach out to the homeless each Sunday from 4pm, at the Sutherland base a car park opposite Boyle Stree (751 Old Princes Highway).
This year's Maianbar Winter Warmers Festival committee have been working with Shibori dyeing and smelly vats of complicated dye and similarly complicated artwork to produce a fully reversible quilt with a marine theme for the raffle prize.
The quilt is queen-sized and worked on antique linen. It is warmly lined with 100 per cent cotton batting and will gladden the heart of its lucky winner.
Tickets will be available on the day, and the raffle will be drawn at the day's close around 3pm.
The festival provides a great way to set yourself up for the rest of winter.
- Getting there: Catch the ferry from Cronulla and walk the bush track from Bundeena; or take the Royal National Park turnoff from the Princes Highway (Farnell Drive, 5km north of Engadine or a similar distance south from Sutherland). There is no toll if you tell them at the booth you are heading for Maianbar.
