Queen's Birthday 2019 Honours List

They walk quietly among us often doing great things for community and country with little or no public recognition.

The Queen's Birthday 2019 Honours List recognises these quiet achievers across a diverse range of contributions and service across all field including community work, professional endeavours, sporting involvement, education and philanthropy.

This year more than 20 residents from throughout St George and Sutherland Shire have been recognised for their outstanding achievements.

Deborah Jane Lawrie (AM)

A present from her father of flying lessons for her 16th birthday set Deborah Lawrie of Monterey on a course for a career in aviation. Read more

Alf  and Nadia Taylor (AM)

Thousands of disadvantaged children around the world have been able to achieve an education and better living conditions because of the generosity and hard work of Lugarno grandparents Nadia and Alf Taylor. Read more

Warren Lockwood (AM)

Over four years as a rugby league administrator, Harvey Warren Lockwood has had an enormous influence on the game, including helping to end the Super League war. Read more

Judge Christopher O'Brien (AM)

A working class upbringing in Sutherland Shire has made District Court Judge Christopher O'Brien "the epitome of what a judicial officer should be - calm but firm when required and with an innate sense of fairness and balance". Read more

James Glissan (AM)

James Glissan QC has a reputation for having one of the sharpest minds at the NSW Bar, and away from the courtroom he is a volunteer for Marine Rescue NSW, based at Hungry Point. Read more

Fifa Riccobono (AM)

Fifa Riccobono has devoted her life to fostering Australian music talent, working with some of the most significant performers over the past few decades including legendary songwriters Harry Vanda and George Young, performers Stevie Wright and John Paul Young and bands AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, Choirboys and The Angles. Kevin O'Shea (AM)

Kevin O'Shea of Cronulla has been appointed a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to the refrigeration and airconditioning industry. He has been president of Refrigeration and Airconditioning Contractors Association of Australia since 1999. Read more

Kevin Neilson (OAM)

Cronulla surf lifesaver Kevin Neilson's selection in the Australian team at the age of 18 was the start of nearly 50 years service to the organisation and coaching at Caringbah Leisure Centre. Read more

Anne Farah Hill (OAM)

Anne Farah-Hill has had a long and varied career in social welfare, supporting many sectors of the community including refugees, migrants, young mothers and the elderly. The Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre chief executive officer has been awarded and OAM for service to the community through social welfare organisations. Read more

Patricia Carroll (OAM)

Proud is the word that comes to mind when Patricia Mary Carroll considers than past 40 years of successful history at a hub of special education. The chief executive of St George and Sutherland Community College is rightly recognised with an OAM for service to education, and to people with a disability. Read more

George Williams (OAM)

Treating the smallest humans and protecting the rights of children have kept George Louie Williams a busy and passionate man within the medical field. The Menai resident has been awarded a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to medicine in the field of paediatrics and developmental disability. Read more
