Commander at the Sutherland Shire PAC Superintendent Jason Box has received the Australian Police Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours for his dedication and service.
Eight NSW Police Force officers and two civilian staff members have been recognised as part of the Queen's Birthday 2019 Honours.
Superintendent Jason Box joined the NSW Police Force in 1989 and confirmed as a constable at the Paddington Patrol.
After transferring to Rose Bay Patrol, he served in the Southern Region Special Crime Squad and Homicide Squad, before being promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant at Sutherland Local Area Command in 2001.
During his service, Superintendent Box has been recognised for his dedication to duty and exemplary service.
He was the lead investigator in the high-profile Black Market Café triple murder in 1997 at Haymarket, and was awarded with a Commander's Commendation for his commitment to the investigation.
In 2001 he was the lead investigator in respect to the murder of Senior Constable James Affleck at Campbelltown.
In 2004, Superintendent Box was promoted to Inspector at Marrickville Local Area Command, before transferring to Newtown Local Area Command as Crime Manager three years later.
In 2011, he was promoted to Superintendent at Eastern Suburbs Local Area Commander, and since 2018 has performed duties in his current role of Commander at Sutherland Police Area Command.
In addition to over 30 years of service to the community, Superintendent Box was the driving force behind a number of fundraising initiatives including approximately $100,000 raised for the Sydney Children's Hospital in 2016.
