Update
Four male youths aged 16-17 have been charged after an alleged "grab and run" raid at a Taren Point electrical firm on Monday.
The youths are alleged to be members of a gang involved in several similar raids and police claim they blackened their faces as a disguise.
Another has been charged at Hornsby after being discovered with an outstanding warrant following a call about men loitering in an electronic store.
About 1pm on Monday, police were called to a shopping centre on Taren Point Road, Taren Point, after up to seven males stole electronics, including laptops and TVs, from an electrical store.
Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command attended. A short time later they stopped a vehicle in Linden Street, Sutherland.
Four male occupants of the vehicle, two aged 16 and two aged 17, were arrested. Electrical devices police allege to be stolen were seized from the vehicle.
The males were taken to Sutherland Police Station where they were each charged with face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence and shoplifting over $15,000. One of the 16-year-old's was also charged with possess prohibited drug.
The two 16-year-old's and one of the 17-year-old males were refused bail and will appear in Surry Hills Children's Court on Tuesday.
The other 17-year-old was given conditional bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 4 July 2019.
The remaining men have been described as being of African appearance, and inquiries continue to locate them.
Several members of the public attempted to intervene during the incident, and police would urge those persons to come forward.
In another incident, about 2.30pm on Monday, police were called to an electronic store at a shopping centre on Florence Street, Hornsby, after reports of several males loitering in the store.
Police attended and one man, aged 24, was arrested at the scene, after he was found to have an outstanding warrant. A speaker, suspected of being stolen, was also located in his possession.
He was taken to Hornsby Police Station where the warrant was executed.
He was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Tuesday.
Searches continue in the area for other males.
