The Riverwood Community Centre has received a $6000 grant to help fund the Riverwood Spring Fair, to be held in September.
Oatley MP Mark Coure last week announced the funding had been made available to Riverwood Community Centre through the Celebrating Diversity Grants administered by Multicultural NSW.
The funding will assist the Centre in creating a family-focused fair day that celebrates local multicultural groups.
The Riverwood Spring Fair will be held on Saturday, September 7 and more than 8,000 people are expected to attend.
There will be performances, multicultural food tastings and a 'make and display' art and craft program.
"The Celebrating Diversity Grants allow multicultural communities to showcase cultural diversity and promote social cohesion," Mr Coure said.
"Multicultural celebrations bring the community together, breaking down barriers and promoting participation and cross-cultural exchange.
"The Riverwood Spring Fair is staple of the local calendar and I'm proud to partner with Multicultural NSW to support this wonderful event."
Riverwood Community Centre chief executive officer, Michelle Newman also welcomed the grant.
"The Riverwood Spring Fair showcases the talent, diversity and strength of our multicultural community," she said.
"The Grant from Multicultural NSW is an important contribution to ensuring the success of the Fair."
