UPDATE: 11.27am:
A resident of the nearby St Patrick's Green retirement village heard of the accident on the radio and was on the scene soon after.
"The car was on top of the railing in the middle of the road," he said.
"It must have hit the back of a truck heading towards the city and swung around landing on the railing and taking out a traffic light.
"The driver appeared to be standing by the ambulance.
"The Fire Brigade arrived and tried to cut the car away from the railing with an angle grinder.
"Then a tow truck attached a chain and hauled it off the railing."
Motorists are urged to continue to exercise caution on the highway near Rocky Point Rd. Signal pole replacement and fence repairs are now taking place following the crash.
Police were pushing through traffic northbound on the Princes Highway.
Southbound traffic was proceeding slowly with one lane closed in each direction.
UPDATE 11.20am:
Two of three northbound and one of three southbound lanes remain closed on the Princes Highway at Rocky Point Road due to a crash.
The car is off the fence now. Traffic is heavy in both directions, expect delays.
EARLIER:
There has been a multi-vehicle crash on the Princes Highway at Kogarah.
Emergency services and traffic crews are on site following the crash about 10.30am.
Traffic lights are flashing yellow and motorists are advised to take care in the area.
