Retail heavyweight Gerry Harvey has lashed out at the "little hoods" who have been targetting electrical stores across Sydney in grab-and-run robberies.
At least 20 electrical stores have been hit in the past month with offenders running into stores and pulling expensive electrical goods from displays before barging out of the outlet.
In the latest incident, the JB Hi Fi at Taren Point was robbed of $15,000 worth of electrical goods on Monday.
Four males of African appearance were arrested and charged after the alleged theft.
The youths are alleged to be members of a gang involved in several similar raids in Sydney's north and north-west.
On Tuesday, a frustrated Harvey, chairman of Harvey Norman, called for a tough response from police to stop the youths responsible for these serious crimes.
"It's really bad when in the middle of the day six little hoods can come in and ransack and rob, and staff and everyone else just lets them go, which is fine but they know they can get away with it," Harvey told 7NEWS.
"So how do you stop these guys doing it ... the police force has to do something.''
Strike Force Arpen was formed on Monday to look into a series of 'grab-and-run' style robberies at Artarmon, Top Ryde and Castle Hill.
Sutherland Police are appealing for assistance from members of the public in relation to the Taren Point robbery.
Police are asking anyone, who was at JB HiFi in Homeware Centre, Taren Point, between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Monday, June 10, and witnessed four males remove electronic equipment from a counter.
In addition, it is alleged at the time when the males entered the store, they have allegedly pushed past a family with a small child.
Police are urging any relative, friend or family member to contact police as a matter of priority so that they can continue to advance their investigation.
If you can assist, contact Senior Constable Fordyce at Sutherland Shire Proactive Crime Team at Miranda Police Station on 9541 3899 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
