Cronulla circa 1980s |
Gerrale Street shops in the 1980s looking from nearby Cronulla Park.
These shops have been standing on this site since the 1890s.
This part of Cronulla served as the coaching area of the early days as local pioneers the Giddings family ran a store and the coach from this location.
It was replaced by the tram service which operated from 1911 to 1931.
The train to Cronulla in 1939 replaced the trams so it is now cars rather than horse and carriages that line the street.
Over the years there have been additions and modifications to the buildings however the faade is still recognisable and the link with the past retained.
