It's the tale of a triple amputee who battles physical challenges and psychological pain, in his attempt to communicate his deepest desires to the outside world.
Kirrawee's Shanell van Graan is a finalist in this year's NOVA Employment Focus on Ability short film awards.
A finalist in the open documentary section, her film 'Suleiman's Story', which she made with cinematographer Andrei Meltser, hopes to snag recognition in the annual awards, which is in its 11th year.
"We focus on a single day in a life of man well on his way to overcome personal challenges and hardships," Ms van Graan, originally of South Africa, said.
"Our documentary reflects our passions for recognising the contributions that disabled make to our society and being an unexplored glimpse into the difficulty of adjusting to their circumstances.
"We wanted to show a cinematic walkthrough of everyday triumphs in a quest to regain independence, while providing an inspiring voiceover right from Suleiman's life experience.
"Even though I'm confident the judges will love my film, if our community gets behind me, it might just win the most online votes."
