Re the article ''Gumnut will lose sun'' (Leader, June 19).
We completely empathise with Gumnut and everyone affected by these looming towers of ugliness taking over the shire. The shire has sadly become a haven for greedy developers who have no consideration for the community.
Thanks to the Sutherland Shire Council and another money-hungry developer our children too will lose sun in our backyard for much of the year. Unfortunately, the heavy price for the humble shire resident is loss of livelihood, destruction of neighbourly relationships and overall community spirit.
Apart from our beautiful beaches we are fast losing our status as 'God's country' and replacing it with 'God-awful and greedy country'.
ML, Miranda
I have a massive retirement apartment block overlooking my backyard that wasn't supposed to affect us but here we are in the shade all day. So good luck with that Gumnut as it appears in the shire, like most areas, the lure of coin outweighs any concerns.

This is what living in the shire has come down to. Constantly having to fight to maintain basic property rights.

I bet the DA is already done - poor kids next to a construction site for all that time.

Keep fighting. Smart development not over development!

Do we really need a 7-storey block of apartments in the back of Engadine?
Kylie Conte
Wasting your time. They couldn't give a toss about your concerns. Move out of Sydney while your property is worth two cents.
David De Vere
All comes down to greed. Developers and those not living in the area couldn't care less about the locals or their quality of life.
