Sutherland coach Terry Palapanis said he had felt better following defeats after Sutherland suffered a cruel 1-1 draw against Sydney United 58 on Sunday.
The Sharks led 1-0 at Edensor Park after Jordan Morfitis had put the visitors in front 10 minutes into the second half after he reacted first to Charles Lokolingoy's saved shot.
Sutherland looked to be edging towards victory until the final 15 minutes when veteran goalkeeper Nathan Denham was forced off injured.
Lokolingoy was then shown a straight red card after an incident off the ball, leaving the Sharks to hang on for the final nine minutes.
But the hosts were to steal a share of the points as Peter Simonoski nodded home a 90th minute equaliser.
"I have felt better after losing," Palapanis said.
"I thought we came out away from home against a good opponent and dominated large portions of the match.
"We had a lot of clear-cut one-on-ones that we couldn't convert, especially the shot cleared off the line preventing us from going 2-0 up with 10 men. Then a lapse of concentration within our central defenders sees them score and the rest is history.
"I can't believe how many chances we created. It almost feels worse than a loss. It was definitely one that got away."
Sutherland have been resurgent since the mid-season recruitment of former Sydney FC youngsters Liam McGing, Jerry Skotadis, Bai Antoniou and Lokolingoy.
The Sharks can still climb closer to the top five when they take on Manly United at Cromer Park on Sunday.
