Don and Doreen Kinna of Bexley celebrated 72 years of marriage last Friday.
They were congratulated on their wonderful partnership by Barton MP Linda Burney.
Don from Newtown married Doreen nee Gonsalez also from Newtown at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney on 21 June 1947 after meeting at a local dance having first noticed each other on a tram.
They celebrated their long and happy marriage at Uniting Banks Lodge, Peakhurst where Doreen now resides due to ill health.
Don still lives independently in the family home of 66 years and travels by public transport each day to visit Doreen.
"I was so honoured to be invited to celebrate this happy day with Don and Doreen and to see the love they have for each other," Ms Burney said.
"Their life together has also been shared with their community. Don and Doreen worked tirelessly for many years raising funds for The Pathfinders, a charity for the blind as well as their beloved St George Football Club where Don, a Life Member was a linesman and a scoreboard volunteer for many years.
"They also gave up many weekends to cook sausage sizzles for the Club, the epitome of devoted Club members.
"A truly wonderful partnership. I wish them all the best," Ms Burney said.
