A passion for design and a love of timber led to Billy Ward starting Heartwood Design & Joinery more than 10 years ago.
Tired of "working my magic for someone else" Mr Ward decided to open his business in Caringbah so that he could pursue his talent for bringing unique works to life.
"I wanted to stand alone and be noticed for the beautiful creations I can make," Mr Ward said.
His biggest seller at the moment is bathroom vanities but he can make anything a customer wants from timber.
That includes bench tops, coffee and dining tables, side tables, beds, step treads and mantle pieces.
"I like to bring to life a customer's imagination and I will make absolutely anything a customer dreams of," Mr Ward said.
"I have excellent customer service and am in constant contact with them, making sure I get their job spot on.
"I also do 3D images for the client before I start their job so they can see how it will look and make any changes."
