Popular Caringbah dance studio Wam Dancers is looking to expand.
A development application (DA) seeks to spread dance classes into an adjoining factory unit, previously used by a computer tech business.
Wam Dancers was started 13 years ago by Wendy McMahon, who was the leader and choreographer of the Cronulla Sharks Mermaids for 14 years from 1998.
The DA said the move would provide a third studio in the Woodfield Boulevarde building and allow extra classes to be run.
"The addition of the third studio is intended to improve the experience of existing group and private classes rather than substantially increasing existing class sizes," the DA said.
"The second studio is smaller than an average dance stage and is more suited to private lessons and groups of small children.
"The additional studio will allow older students to practice performances in a room similar to the size of a stage and give existing classes more space for group practice.
"The space would provide a greater variety of classes for existing students which would be complementary to existing dance classes."
