Vanessa King was "shocked and elated" to be named the Youth Award winner at last week's Sutherland Shire Local Business Awards.
The student pharmacist at Priceline Cronulla said the award was a reflection of how far she had come.
"There is an enormous feeling of pride in winning this award," Ms King said.
"I started off in Priceline as a young university student with a lot of hopes and dreams so it's amazing to feel like I can finally reach those goals."
Ms King said she was nominated by her manager and was shocked to be announced as the winner.

"There were so many deserving people who made finalists that I didn't expect my name to be called," she said.
"I was just thankful to have made it as a finalist, so being the winner was an absolute dream!
"The local business awards are such an honour to be a part of and to know that your hard work is being recognised and celebrated is the most rewarding feeling in the world," Ms King said.
She loved her work and had a passion for it. "I think that translates to people quite easily because I really do want to go that extra mile to help people feel reassured about their health," she said.
Ms King said she would encourage other young people to take part in the awards.
"Never think that your hard work is going unnoticed.".
She said she would like to thank her manager Barbara Shute and owner Jacqueline Dyson for their support and encouragement.
