A man from Cronulla has been described as one of the 'heroes' who helped chase a knife wielding man who allegedly went on a stabbing rampage in Sydney's CBD on Tuesday afternoon.
Sutherland Shire's Alex Roberts was among the men who were praised for their exceptional efforts after Mert Ney, 20, allegedly killed a woman in an apartment and wounded another, before running through the streets with a large knife.
Mr Roberts, Lee Cuthbert and Paul O'Shaughnessy, were among those who helped detain the man before police arrived.
Mr Roberts was at work when drama unfolded. He along with others, chased Ney before catching up with him. He says although the experience was frightening, he did not hesitate when he and others saw the incident occur.

NSW Police Minister David Elliott praised all who went "well and truly above the call of any citizen".
Police said the alleged attacker did have some ideologies in relation to terrorism and confirmed that he had recently self-admitted himself [to a facility] prompting subsequent mental health assessments.
