New life has returned to "the other side of the tracks" in Mortdale.
A new cafe called "F'coffee" has opened up at the train station near Mortdale Public School.
Local history buffs will know that this side is the original shopping strip in Mortdale.
F'coffee will hold its grand opening on Saturday, August 24, with face painting for the kids and a grazing table display with samples for visitors to try.
A local couple, Fi and John, are behind the venture.
"Thanks for the amazing community support Mortdale we couldn't be happier to be here and have already met so many wonderful locals," their Facebook page says.
Servicing commuters, the school community, railway workers and surrounding neighbourhood the shop is cosy with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
As for the name?
"F'coffee - the good old Australian ability to shorten two words," John said.
"Once you say it count how many times you use it - 'meet me f'coffee' 'lets go f'coffee' 'we went f'coffee' -it's endless!"
Offering Daily Grind coffee, sourdough from the Bread and Butter Project and Clempton Park Pies the couple are hoping to entice parents in before and after school drop offs and pick ups!
Open Monday to Friday, 6am to 4pm, Saturday, 8am to 1pm.
