Oyster Bay finalist in Little Sydney Lives photography competition

Amateur Oyster Bay photographer, Shay Parkinson, age 11, is a finalist in Little Sydney Lives photography competition.

His photograph is of mountain biking in the Royal National Park.

Shay's photo, along with other finalists will be on display outdoors in Sydney's Hyde Park (Sandringham Gardens) from September 19-October 13.

His photo is among 20 images of siblings, pets, nature and hobbies.

A record-breaking 356 images were submitted by children aged three to 11 for the City of Sydney's annual Art & About competition. Winners will be selected in each of two categories - 3 to 7 and 8 to 11 years.

Shay's photo is titled "A ride through the trees".

"This is one of my favourite mountain bike rides - Blair Witch Trail in the Royal National Park, " he said. "I thought it was beautiful the first time I went so I took a camera with me the next time."

Shay's photo also won the Oyster Bay Primary School Fair competition.
