Legendary performer John Paul Young will head to the Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL on September 14 with The Allstar Band, singing hits from The Vanda and Young Songbook.
Young first burst onto the Australian music scene with Pasadena in 1972 and has now sold more than four million albums world wide.
In 2009 he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and in 2012 received an Order of Australia for his services to charity and the music industry.
The concert celebrates music that gave Australia its soundtrack during the 60s, 70s and 80s including hits by AC/DC, Grace Jones, Ted Mulry and Vanda & Young's own studio unit "Flash and the Pan" all written by two extraordinary songwriters Harry Vanda and George Young.
Other songs you may get up and dance to include Friday on my mind, Evie (Parts 1, 2 and 3), Love is in the air, I hate the music, and Standing in the rain.
The Allstar Band features Warren "The Pig" Morgan who cut his teeth in the original Aztecs and Ronnie "Rockwell T James" Peel, of The Missing Links and La De Das fame.
JPY will also share his own behind the scenes stories about the songs and their making, at a time when music was king.
