Some of St George and Sutherland Shire's best dancers are limbering up to take part in the 10th Australian Dance Festival to be held at Sydney Olympic Park, September 19 to 22.
The Australian Dance Festival is a national non-for-profit, dance event that attracts more than 6000 dancers each year from across the nation.
Described as an "Expo of Everything Dance" the festival includes workshops with Australia's best dance instructors, troupe competitions, solo competitions, dance showcases, and auditions for top dance schools.
There will be workshops in over 15 different styles of dance given by top choreographers.
Along with the workshops, there are opportunities to audition for elite dance schools and international cruise liners,dance showcases and competitions.
"It's been the springboard for many successful international dance careers," a festival spokeswoman said.
Taking part in the 10th Australain Dance Festival will be local dance instructors Lauren Seymour of Peakhurst, Eden Petrovski of Sutherland, Neal Whittaker of Caringbah, James Barry of Cronulla, and Sarah Boulter of Yowie Bay.
Lauren Seymour has just appeared in the Elton John movie Rocketman and was crowned Australia's Favourite Female Dancer on Channel 10's So You Think You Can Dance Season 4.
Eden Petrovksi started dancing at the age of three at Ettingshausens and went on to study at the Alvin Ailey School, New York. She has appeared on X Factor, Dance Academy, Opera Australia's AIDA and Dirty Dancing Immersive Cinema
Neale Whittaker has appeared on So You Think You Can Dance, Dance Academy and Australia's Got Talent as Grand Finalist, before travelling to Europe to study at Urban Dance Camp in Germany.
James Barry is a founding member of Phly Crew dance group and appeared in the finals of Australia's Got Talent and competed in the World Dance Finals.
Sarah Boulter has worked on So You Think You Can Dance, Dnce Academy, Puberty Blues, The Dream Dance Company and worked in Las Vegas on the Celine Dion Show, A New Day.
The Australian Dance Festival is also the auditioning grounds for 10 of Australia's most prestigious full-time dance schools over one weekend.
