A Sutherland Shire home cinema company has been named amongst the best in the world.
Wavetrain Cinemas scored top honours at the 2019 Asia Pacific CEDIA* Awards in Melbourne, including a project that featured a seven-metre wide art wall that transforms into a cinema screen.
The Taren Point company won four categories against entries from Japan, China, New Zealand and throughout Australia including Best Home Cinema (Level 1), Best Home Cinema (Level 3), Technology Meets Design and Best Media Room.
Managing Director David Moseley said the team at Wavetrain Cinemas, based at Atkinson Road, had been designing and creating luxury home theatres in Australia and New Zealand for more than 14 years.
''To enter three projects and win four awards is amazing and it's a testament to the expertise and creativity of our design and engineering teams,'' Mr Moseley said.
''Cinema design is a passion for us and we spend a lot of time on every project to ensure we deliver clients their dream cinemas.''
The ''Wonderwall'' project, at a home in Bellevue Hill, included a seven-metre wide art wall that transforms into a state-of-the-art movie cinema screen. It was named Best Media Room.
The 'Phoenix'' room at a home cinema in Vaucluse, took out the Best Home Cinema, Level 1 category, with its Meridian Speaker System.
Two top awards, Technology Meets Design & Best Home Cinema, Level 3, went to the ''Arcadia'' room on the Central Coast. It features the latest D-Box motion system and PRO Audio technology.
''Our engineering works seamlessly with the creative brief so it's hard for clients to see the sheer amount of work that goes into these projects. But that's the point of good design,'' David said.
Mr Moseley will be presenting his awards to the homeowners who inspired the winning designs.
''We always give the award to clients to keep in their cinema so for them it's a validation,'' he said.
