Rockdale Public School teacher Beverley Lowne has been praised by Bayside Council for her life-long commitment to teaching and for being an outstanding mentor to hundreds of school children.
Mrs Lowne, who has been a teacher and librarian at Rockdale Public School for 35 years, received a community citation from Bayside Mayor Bill Saravinovski at last night's council meeting.
"She is well-respected by the community, parents and teachers," Cr Saravinovski said.
A large group of supporters including her fellow teachers and members of the school's P&C attended the council meeting to see Mrs Lowne receive her Community Citation.
Cr Saravinovski praised Mrs Lown's commitment and support not only to the school but to the community.
"Whenever there is an event at the school she is there. When Bayside Council holds a competition in conjunction with the school Beverley and her husband Keith are always there," Cr Saravinovski said.
"On behalf of the council and the community congratulations and we are proud of all you have achieved in your 35 years at Rockdale Public School."
Her Community Citation reads:
"The Mayor Bill Saravinovski and the Bayside Councillors thank Beverley for her life-long commitment to education and teaching.
Beverley has been an outstanding mentor and role model to hundreds of children during her 35 years at Rockdale Public School.
When she is not teaching Beverley volunteers in her local community."
