Families flock to Oatley Park's new outdoor adventure playground

Oatley Park's outdoor adventure playground was officially unveiled to the community on Saturday.

The free event at Dame Mary Gilmore Road, which raised funds for The Lions Club, was a huge hit with families.

More than 350 visitors attended on the day with children of all ages and abilities making it their mission to tackle the fun new equipment.

A toddler zone, flying fox, giant tube slides and a teen area were highlights.

A small ceremony marked the start of fun galore, with Georges River mayor Kevin Green and Oatley MP Mark Coure unveiling the playground's welcome plaque.

The new $1.4 million project, did not disappoint, judging by reactions on social media.

"Went there and to say my daughter had fun would be an understatement," Reece Noonan posted on Facebook.

"Such as awesome space," Yvonne posted. "Downside is the toilets are not close," Dean Derwent posted.

The new playspace was designed in collaboration with the community, and feedback that was taken on board from the design process become a reality, just in time for a warmer new season.

Utilising the natural surroundings means the site draws on the beauty of the green landscape within the park's bushland setting.

The playground was brought to life thanks to the NSW government's 'Everyone Can Play' initiative, which supports councils to create new and upgrade existing playground for a diverse population.
