Sunny Sydney has started off with a sumptuous seasonal shift into spring, but don't get too excited.
By Monday afternoon and into the evening, things will change.
After a delightful Sunday and an expected very warm start to the week with a top of 29 degrees predicted on Monday, there will be a sudden turn in the weather.
A gusty southerly change is due to arrive in the afternoon, bringing rapid cooling. Along with the cooler temperatures and breezy winds, showers will develop. These showers will tend to rain in the evening, and linger into Tuesday.
Tuesday will be a cloudy, rainy and cool day, with the daytime temperatures likely to be closer to the mid-teens, potentially warming up once the rain moves away in the afternoon and evening.
The fire danger is very high and the UV index is moderate.
From Tuesday to Wednesday, large and powerful surf conditions in the evening are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, swimming and surfing.
All up, it looks to bring about 10-30mm - a welcome drop with nearly all of the Sydney basin only recording five millimeters or less of rain so far this month.
For the sun-seekers, Thursday will have sunny breaks throughout the day.
Temperature swings such as this are typical for this time of year as summer-like weather systems develop and try to fight off lingering winter-like systems.
