There was a turf war at Sans Souci on Monday morning with two unlikely combatants going at it for almost 10 minutes.
A crow took exception to a possum being in its territory near Sans Souci Leisure Centre and did not given in until the much bigger intruder had been driven out.
Leader reader Brian Destry from Sans Souci witnessed the encounter about 6.30am in the leisure centre car park.
"I was out for a walk when I saw the spat between the two which went for about 10 minutes," Brian said.
"The crow was not happy about the possum being in his territory. The crow was squawking and bit the tail of the possum at least six times. At one point the crow had fur in its beak!
"The possum went up the tree to the first branch and down again continually not knowing what to do.
"Eventually the possum finally made good his escape by running to the next tree and scooted straight up and out of sight."
It seems crows are not adverse to the occasional dust up.
In 2017 Leader photographer Chris Lane was on hand to witness a spat between a crow and a cockatoo at Ramsgate.
Photos show the cocky cockatoo enjoying the morning sun as it lazes on a brick fence.
The tranquil moment didn't last too long before it was swooped upon by a winged opponent who dropped from the sky in a blaze of black feathers.
Feathers were flying when the two winged combatants faced off but on this occasion the crow was left to slink away with the cockatoo getting the upper claw.
