A school community's vision will be realised after it won the vote in Cronulla electorate in the My Community Project program.
Burraneer Bay Public School's oval will be upgraded with a $200,000 grant after the project received 1683 points.
A synthetic running track will be installed around the oval, with grass in the middle, extending to a new outdoor learning area.
The project will benefit school students, before and after school care children, local sporting groups and members of the wider community.
Principal Victoria Pantelis said, "The key to what makes our school so great is the support from all members of our school community".
"We had a vision to transform our grass oval to an area into an improved area for our students to run on a track, kick a ball or sit in an outdoor learning space," she said.
"Thanks to the support from our community, this vision will now become our reality.
"The school celebrated its 125th anniversary last year and once again our community came together and put on a fabulous celebration.
"We are fortunate that our school is well resourced but winning this $200000 grant to upgrade our school oval is icing on the cake."
In Miranda electorate, Sylvania Heights Community & Youth Club was awarded $200,000 to update facilities built 40 years ago.
Bellingara Netball Complex will receive $38,679 to fund nine sun safe shelters.
The voting system gave points for each preference, with voters asked to rate between three and five projects.
First preference votes were allocated 10 points, with the number gradually decreasing to one point for fifth preferences.
More than 40 community infrastructure projects in the shire were nominated for funding, with a maximum of $260,000 available to each electorate.
The program replaced a similar scheme in which MPs nominated the projects to be funded.
