Street parking
Council has permitted unfettered development ...we have to live with that. The Sutherland Hospital, like all hospitals has parking issues for staff and visitors. The multi-storey carpark has a waiting list for staff. Yet the council has reduced the available parking times on the Kingsway in the vicinity of the hospital without providing alternative parking. To what end? As a bandaid solution to poor traffic flow?

Keep the bats - please!
Re the article "Big increase in flying fox numbers at gardens" (Leader, August 14). Please let them stay there. After 10 years it is finally quiet in Myles Dunphy Reserve in Oatley. No noise or dreadful smell or mess. Hope it isn't affecting any residents. It ruins your life - they are vermon.

Shire Has Talent
Have you been to see your own wonderful, high standard Sutherland Shire Symphony Orchestra lately? On Sunday, September 8 these talented musicians left me spellbound with their iconic selection of classical and modern music which included music from the Beatles, Bernard Hermann's "Psycho" (theme from the movie) and popular excerpts from Toselli, Rossini and Cold Play and finished with Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B Minor featuring brilliant solo cellist Noah Oshiro. With Adrian Keating as conductor the whole performance was most professional. The orchestra put on about four concerts each year. Make sure you catch their Christmas concert coming up, always a lot of fun.
