It was a scene familiar to many mothers of young children.
State MP Melanie Gibbons, whose electorate of Holsworthy includes part of Sutherland Shire, was trying to say a few important words in Parliament this week while looking after her clingy toddlers Audrey and baby sister Elizabeth.
Her community recognition statement was going to take less than a minute, but trying telling that to young children about eight o'clock at night.
"Sometimes working parents need a little extra help to get the job done - especially when toddlers don't want to be separated from their mum," she posted on Facebook with a video of the parliamentary performance.
"Thanks to the Government Whip Adam Crouch MP - Member for Terrigal - for helping entertain my littlest one and to the Parliament of NSW and NSW Liberal Party for providing real support to help elect women to Parliament."
Ms Gibbons recorded into Hansard her recognition of students of Holsworthy High School, who volunteered to work on maintaining the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway at Concord.
