A car driven by a P-plate driver mounted the footpath outside a pizza shop after a collision at Monterey.
CCTV vision shows a woman walking past the shop shortly before the crash at the intersection of Chuter Avenue and Scarborough Street.
The pizza shop owner told 9 News if anyone had been sitting at the outdoor table "they would have been dead".
The car and a Mercedes, driven by an older man, collided at the intersection before careering on to the footpath.
It was the second such accident at the intersection in six months.
